Some days, you just desperately need some coffee in the afternoon and that's what Vincent was feeling as he ran through the light drizzles into the crowded Starbucks located in Downtown LA. This is definitely not the best time to come in and queue for a cup of coffee, especially since he's not the only one crowding into the coffee shop due to the horrible weather outside.
Gently wiping the water droplets off his leather jacket with a paper napkin he grabbed from the store, Vincent joined the queue. His only disguise was the cap on his head, since wearing sunglasses in-store actually has an opposite effect on keeping his anonymity, he tried his best to keep his head down and mind his own business as he waited.
It looks like another afternoon with rain showers, the traffic is going to be hell on his way back to the studio, and Thomas is going to be pissed. Pulling up the messaging app, Vincent did the only responsible thing he could do in this situation: he texted his manager about his whereabouts and his most probable lateness in returning to the studio from his lunch break. It is not like it's his fault that the sky decided to open up just when he came out to get coffee.
Once done, Vincent turned the screen off and pocketed his phone, allowing himself a quick glance on his surroundings. The store is more packed than usual because of the rain outside, it seems like everyone is in here taking shelter. Just as he was watching, another poor soul came running into the store, half-drenched in the rain as she came through the door. From the look of her top, it is certainly not the best day to wear a white blouse either.
Apparently though, he wasn't the only one taking notice of her. Nearby, Vincent saw two guys nudging each other and sneering at the woman. Rolling his eyes at them - Vincent hates guys like that most - he removed his jacket as he walked towards her, his face schooled into a look of concern and familiar friendliness, like he actually knows the girl.
"There you are, what took you so long! Here, you must be freezing," out loud he said as he placed his leather jacket on her shoulder. It was a size too big for her, but it does the job helping her to cover up her now rain-drenched and pretty much see-through shirt. Taking the opportunity as he was adjusting the jacket, Vincent said in a low voice, "Just play along," he held her eyes steady hoping they were enough to convey his true message, that he isn't a creep, and that he's just trying to help. It was probably convincing enough though because she actually follows his lead.
Once he was sure she had properly covered up, Vincent went over to grab more paper napkins from that little "help yourself" counter nearby and hand them to her. That was a sweet smile she gave him as she thanked him, Vincent couldn't help himself returning a grin, momentarily charmed by it. She is actually very beautiful, maybe not pretty in the sense of supermodels you see on the runway, not even like any superstars who he bumps into at work every now and then, but there's certain... innocent charm to her. Like the way she smiles it makes you want to smile along - and he did.
"What would you like? Let me buy you a coffee," totally his way of flirting, Vincent couldn't help it, not in the face of another beautiful girl.
"Of course not, I should be buying you a coffee, for helping me." Her protest was expected, so Vincent's grin widened, "No, of course I can't let a pretty girl like you pay for my coffee now, couldn't I. C'mon, it's my treat." he tried again. He actually tried a few more times, up until they're both at the counter and placed their order, both Vincent and her handing the cashier a fifty-dollar bill for their drinks. The cashier chose to take the money from him though, and Vincent winked at the girl victoriously.
"Okay, seriously, I owed you one now and you'll have to let me pay you back somehow," she told him as they were both walking over to the pickup area to wait for their coffee. Vincent skipped ahead to join the queue, then pulled out his phone and passed it to her, "Well, you can do that by giving me your number," he said. At least she doesn’t need more convincing for this one, Vincent grinned widely as he watched her key in her number into his phone. He then gave her a call so she too has his number. "My name is Vincent, and it is nice to meet you -" he took a quick glance down at his phone screen, grin widened into a charming smile as he said her name, "Lily."
